Patient Acceptance And Satisfaction of Teledermoscopy In General Practice In a Belgian Rural Area

The aim objective of this work is to assess the characteristics of patients for whom teledermoscopy could be suitable for the detection of potential skin cancers, within a population of rural general medicine in the South of Hainaut, by means of a mixed quantitative and qualitative study corresponding respectively: To identify patients' knowledge of skin cancers, their skin monitoring habits, and their acceptability of new telemedicine tools such as teledermoscopy ("Part 1"). To evaluate the satisfaction and expectations of those who benefit from teledermoscopy ("Part 2").

SpotCheck: Comparison of Enhanced Telemedicine Versus In-person Evaluation for the Diagnosis of Skin Cancer

The overall goal of this research is to develop a platform that can increase patient access to expert skin cancer diagnostic services via telemedicine. This is especially important for medically underserved areas where melanoma outcomes are worse than in areas with greater access to in-person evaluations. If successful, the widespread availability of such services would be combined with public education efforts to encourage individuals with changing skin lesions to seek evaluation. With decreased travel times to high quality diagnostic services, such efforts may decrease the diagnosis of more advanced melanomas (with a concomitant increase in the diagnosis of earlier stage tumors), and potentially decrease melanoma mortality.

Utility of Digital Dermoscopy in the Skin Cancer Clinic

This feasibility study aims to evaluate the use of the BARCO NV digital dermatoscope (non-CE marked device) in the skin cancer clinic. All eligible patients attending the Dermatology outpatient skin cancer clinic will be invited to participate. Patients who consent to the study will undergo standard care which will include medical photography of skin lesion(s) and appropriate management as determined by the Consultant Dermatologist in clinic. In addition to standard care, patients will undergo photography of the same lesion(s) using the BARCO NV digital dermatoscope. There will be no other intervention and no additional hospital visits in relation to the study. Use of the device will not influence the clinical management of the patient. A detailed experience questionnaire will be administered to all clinicians using the BARCO device to explore their opinion on its ease of use and features. All standard macroscopic & dermoscopic images will be taken by OUH medical illustration department and stored on the 'Fotoweb' database (in keeping with current standard practice). Trained Dermatology Consultants, Dermatology Registrars, Research nurses or Medical Photographers, will take BARCO NV device images. A database of all BARCO images will be collected and stored on a dedicated NHS computer separate from the patient clinical record. Standard medical photography images will be stored on Fotoweb as per standard NHS clinical care. Data will be anonymised and collated and then sent securely to BARCO for further analyses to enable optimization of the BARCO device and for development of diagnostic algorithms in the future.

Investigating the Effects of Atezolizumab in People Whose Tumour DNA or RNA Indicates Possible Sensitivity

This study will investigate the effects of atezolizumab on select cancer types in people whose analysis of tumour DNA and RNA indicates they may be sensitive to atezolizumab. This study aims to determine if the information from the cancer genome analysis corresponds with the effects of atezolizumab on individuals and their cancer. This is a Phase 2 study, which is undertaken after preliminary safety testing on a drug is completed, and will involve approximately 200 participants. Participants are assigned to one of 8 cohorts based on their primary tumour type: breast, lung, gastrointestinal (GI), primary unknown, genitourinary (GU), sarcoma, gynecological, and 'other' cancer types. Participants in all cohorts will receive the same dose of atezolizumab (1200 mg every 3 weeks). In the first stage for each cohort, 8 participants will be enrolled and if no participants respond to treatment, enrollment to that cohort will be closed. If 1 or more participants respond to treatment, up to 16 additional participants will be enrolled to that cohort. Participants continue on treatment until they no longer may benefit from the treatment or they decide to stop treatment.

3D Printed Rigid Bolus Versus Silicone Bolus for Treatment of Tumors Involving the Skin: A Comparative Study

This study compares two types of 3D-printed skin bolus (rigid and flexible) used to optimize the treatment of tumors/cancers involving the skin. Each patient will have both types of bolus made, with each will be used on alternating days. The goal is to determine if one type of bolus provides a better fit and thus radiotherapy plan, the ease of use of each type of bolus, and patient reported feedback.

Breast cancer is a communal malignant disease between Saudi females, with a popularity of 21.8%. Since binding to somatostatin receptors (SSTR) induces no immunogenicity in vivo, somatostatin analog (veldoreotide) (VELD) may be suitable for delivering anti-cancer drugs to target and bioimaging the cancer cells. This work aimed to deliver CdS/ZnS core-shell type quantum dots with carboxylic acid-functionalized (QDs-COOH) which is bioimaging and anticancer nanoparticles decorated VELD as SSTR agonist with anti-cancer activity in the form of topical cream to be deposited deep in the breast periphery.

Improving Skin Cancer Management With Artificial Intelligence (04.17 SMARTI)

The study is designed to be able to prove if the Molemap Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithm can be used as a diagnostic aid in a clinical setting. This study will determine whether the diagnostic accuracy of the Molemap AI algorithm is comparable to a specialist dermatologist, teledermatologist and registrar (as a surrogate for a general practitioner). The study patient population will be adult patients who require skin cancer assessment. The use of AI as a diagnostic aid may assist primary care physicians who have variable skill in skin cancer diagnosis and lead to more appropriate referrals (rapid referral for lesions requiring treatment and fewer referrals for benign lesions), thereby improving access and reducing waiting times for specialist care.
