The Value of Lymph Node Dissection of Indocyanine Green-guided Near-infrared Fluorescent Imaging in Esophagectomy

Indocyanine green (ICG) has been recently introduced in clinical practice as a fuorescent tracer. Lymphadenectomy is particularly challenging in esophageal cancer surgery, owing to the complex anatomical drainage.Therefore, the purpose of this study was to explore whether the NIR-ICG imaging system could accurately assess the lymph node markers during radical resection of esophageal cancer.

Assessing Timing of Enteral Feeding Support in Esophageal Cancer Patients on Muscle functTion and Survival

The surgical stress of an esophagectomy causes a detrimental impact on the physiological response of the body. In this perspective, one could question whether the current feeding regimens of starting early nutritional support at postoperative day (POD) 1 have a similar negative impact on the muscle mass as documented in critically ill patients. This study will introduce relative starvation in the early days following esophagectomy compared to the current regimen of early enteral nutritional support. The research team aims to investigate whether the negative impact on muscle mass and muscle function might be reduced, which should result in enhanced postoperative recovery. The final result of the study will be a well-documented and scientifically substantiated nutritional regimen for patients who underwent an esophagectomy for cancer.

Esophageal Cancer Risk Identification Based on Opportunistic Screening?ECRIOS?

This multicenter study aims to include 20000 upper gastrointestinal endoscopy and establish a risk prediction model for esophageal cancer. This study will propose a table, including Risk factors for esophageal cancer and evaluate the function and value of new type esophageal cell collector to China's esophageal cancer screening. The primary study outcome is the sensitivity and specificity of the model to diagnose esophageal cancer. Secondary outcomes include sensitivity and specificity of the esophageal cytology to diagnose esophageal cancer.

The study will test an intervention of an investigator-developed chemotherapy dose adjustment algorithm. The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the chemotherapy dose adjustment algorithm for reducing unplanned delays in patients receiving FOLFOX (5-fluorouracil, leucovorin, and oxaliplatin)-type chemotherapy, while maintaining acceptable chemotherapy dose-intensity.

Robotic Versus Thoracolaparoscopic Esophagectomy for Esophageal Cancer

Esophageal cancer is a debilitating condition. The treatment involved is complex requiring a combination of chemotherapy and surgery in most cases. Complete removal of the tumor and the adjacent lymph nodes is of utmost importance in improving the survival. Lymph node yield following surgery helps in proper staging of the disease and is an important prognosticating variable. It is hypothesized that the lymph node yield following robotic esophagectomy is higher than that following thoracolaparoscopic esophagectomy. The study aims to compare the short term oncological outcomes following robotic esophagectomy and thoracolaparoscopic esophagectomy for carcinoma esophagus.

The purpose of this study is to find out whether a protein, called mesothelin, found in the blood and tissue can be used as "marker" for esophageal cancer. A Multicenter Open-label Phase II Trial to Evaluate Nivolumab and Ipilimumab for 2nd Line Therapy in Elderly Patients With Advanced Esophageal Squamous Cell Cancer

Cancer - including esophageal squamous cell cancer (ESCC) - is a disease of the elderly but little is known about the biology and progression of cancers in these patients. While most patients receive chemotherapy and/or chemo-radiation as first treatment, no treatment standard for following treatments has been established so far and there is a clear unmet medical need, especially for elderly patients. Hence, this study assesses the efficacy and safety of two experimental immunotherapy regimens (Nivolumab monotherapy or Nivolumab/Ipilimumab combination) in elderly patients with advanced esophageal squamous cell cancer.

A Study of Anti-PD-L1 Antibody in Perioperative Chemotherapy of Esophageal Carcinoma.

This is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Ib/? clinical study to evaluate the safety and effect of anti-PD-L1 antibody (ZKAB001) in perioperative chemotherapy of esophageal squamous carcinoma in combination with Alb-paclitaxel and cisplatin. The immunotherapy will be given before and after the operation every three weeks.

Study of the Effects of Transcutaneous Vagus Nerve Stimulation on Cancer Patients

Patients diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer, esophageal cancer, lung cancer, cervical cancer, rectal cancer, or breast cancer who received radical radiotherapy/neoadjuvant/assisted radiotherapy were recruited and the transcutaneous vagal nerve stimulation (tVNS) was applied. The aim of of study is : 1) to study whether tVNS could improve the patient's fatigue, quality of life under radiotherapy or chemotherapy; 2) to investigate the effects of transcutaneous VNS on the levels of patients' lymphocyte subsets and proinflammatory cytokines.

CAPOX, Bevacizumab and Trastuzumab for Patients With HER2-Positive Metastatic Esophagogastric Cancer

The purpose of this study is to determine the safety and effectiveness of a combination of chemotherapy, capecitabine and oxaliplatin, plus the antibodies bevacizumab and trastuzumab. Trastuzumab (also called Herceptin) is an antibody that attacks HER2 protein in tumor cells. Bevacizumab (also called Avastin) works by slowing or stopping the growth of cells in cancer tumors by decreasing the blood supply of the tumors. If blood supply is decreased, oxygen and nutrients that are needed for tumor growth are decreased. The chemotherapy used in this trial is called CAPOX, which is an abbreviation of capecitabine and oxaliplatin.

Laparoscopic Ischemic Conditioning Prior to Esophagectomy

This is a two center phase II prospective single-arm safety and feasibility trial for 20 patients with resectable esophageal carcinoma with an increased risk for anastomotic leakage, as based upon UCS and NASCET calcification scores on pre-op CT-scan. In these patients, laparoscopic ischemic conditioning is performed 12-18 days before an Ivor-Lewis esophagectomy. The primary outcome is all complications grade 2 and higher (Clavien-Dindo classification) occurring during or after the laparoscopic ischemic conditioning. Secondary outcomes are complications after the esophagectomy, and the induction of angiogenesis by biomarkers of microcirculation and redistribution of blood flow by measurement of indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence angiography.

Mayo Clinic Conduit Report Card Questionnaires (CONDUIT)

The Mayo Clinic Conduit Report Card Questionnaires have been created in order to have a consistent evaluation tools for patients undergoing esophagectomy or esophageal reconstruction in order to standardize and validate outcome measures. Data will be used to establish the validation of the Mayo Clinic Conduit Report Card Questionnaires. Data will also lead to the establishment of "normal" or expected scores for patients undergoing each type of esophagectomy procedure
