Maintenance of Physical Activity at One Year After Cardiac Rehabilitation Program

The objective of this study is to examine the maintenance of physical activity at one year after cardiac rehabilitation program by the 6 minute walk-test.

Maintaining physical activity after cardiac rehabilitation has a major role in disease progression and patient prognosis. 6 months after the cardiac rehabilitation, we find during a nursing interview that many patients do not maintain regular physical activity. 1 year after cardiac rehabilitation, between 30% and 60% of patients do not maintain the recommendations in terms of physical activity. However during the follow-up at 6 months, distance is maintened on the 6-minute walk test. These results suggest that maintaining distances on the 6-minute walk test is possible without maintaining regular physical activity. Data are lacking on maintenance beyond 6 months. Currently, we do not identify any studies evaluating maintenance to physical activity at 1 year cardiac rehabilitation by a 6-minute walk test.
