- allergy to contrast media

- indications for thrombolytic therapy (i.e. phlegmasia cerulean dolens)
- the lesion cannot be accessed with the wire guide
- pregnancy
- severe kidney disease (creatinine clearance < 30 mL min)
- prior history of ipsilateral DVT or femoral catheters
