A Study of Experimental Medication BMS-986036 in Adults With Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH) and Liver Cirrhosis

This is a study of experimental medication BMS-986036 given to adults with Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH; the buildup of fat and inflammation in the liver that is not caused by alcohol) and liver cirrhosis (liver damage characterized by normal liver tissue being replaced by scar tissue).

Optimized Treatment of Peginterferon Alfa 2a in Treatment Experienced Patients With HBV Related Liver Fibrosis

Compared to TDF, peginterferon alfa 2a may has more therapeutic efficacy in hepatitis B surface antigen or e antigen seroconversion and anti-tumor occurrence in chronic hepatitis b patients. We design this study to compare the effectiveness and safety between the combination therapy of TDF and peg-IFN with TDF alone in NAs experienced patients with HBV related liver fibrosis. Especially the improvement of liver fibrosis and the occurrence of long-term end-stage liver disease such as cirrhosis, liver cancer, etc.

Screening in Primary Care of Advanced Liver Fibrosis in NAFLD and/or Alcoholic Patients (IMPROVE Study)

The main objective is to determine the performance of the simple eLIFT blood test for advanced liver fibrosis screening in NAFLD and/or alcoholic patients in primary care.

Pirfenidone and Advanced Liver Fibrosis.

Pirfenidone (PFD), an oral antifibrotic drug with anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties, has been granted marketing authorization by the European Medicine Agency and FDA, for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). However, few studies have focused on its clinical utilization in patients with advanced hepatic fibrosis. Therefore, Investigators aim to evaluate a prolonged-release PFD formulation (PR-PFD) plus standard of care management on disease progression in patients with advanced liver fibrosis (ALF). Methods: Patients with diverse chronic liver disease etiology (alcohol-related, hepatitis B or C, autoimmune or fatty liver disease) will be screened with two non invasive liver fibrosis methods (Fibroscan®) and Fibro Test®) and those with ALF (F3 or F4) will be treated for at least 12 months with PR-PFD. Antifibrotic effects Will be assessed at 6 and 12 months; variations greater than 30% in estimated fibrosis scores or 1 point on the METAVIR scale will be considered clinically significant. PFD plasma levels, serum endothelin-1, IL6, TNF? and TGF?1, Quality of life and fatigue scales will be evaluated. Parametric and non parametric statistics will be utilized and p values lower tan 5% will be considered clinically significant.

The aim of our study is to validate the non-invasive model which was constructed by our previous study for evaluating liver fibrosis or cirrhosis caused by hepatitis B virus in mainland China and to find a therapeutic regimen to reverse liver fibrosis and cirrhosis.

An Observational Cohort Study Evaluating Fatty Liver Disease and Liver Fibrosis in Moderate to Severe Psoriasis

• Main objectives and outcome measures. Establish prevalence of and factors contributing to fatty liver disease and liver fibrosis in patients with psoriasis. Fatty liver disease diagnosed via ultrasound. Liver fibrosis diagnosed by liver biopsy or non-invasive tests of fibrosis including transient elastography, ultrasound, serum markers of fibrosis including procollagen-3-N-terminal peptide (P3NP). Evaluate non-invasive markers of liver fibrosis in the psoriasis population. Namely transient elastography, standard liver function tests and P3NP. Evaluate the impact of psoriasis disease severity and comorbidities including metabolic syndrome on response to treatment in patients with psoriasis. Data on co-morbid disease collected through questionnaires and review of medical records. Response to treatment assessed using psoriasis area and severity index (PASI) physician global assessment (PGA) and dermatology life quality index (DLQI). Study population: 380 patients with moderate to severe psoriasis will be prospectively recruited to the study. Chief investigator: Professor Jonathan Barker. Quantitative Diagnosis of Liver Fibrosis on Multiparametric MRI

Early diagnosis and treatment of liver fibrosis can repress or delay the development of cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. The purpose of this pilot study is to evaluate non-invasive multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques in the detection and grading of liver fibrosis, so that patients can be treated in time. These techniques combined could reach high diagnostic performance for detection of liver fibrosis, and could decrease the number of liver biopsies.
