The Use of High Flow Nasal Cannula, Standard Face Mask and Standard Nasal Cannula in Morbidly Obese Patients

It is standard practice in the United States and many parts of world to perform Gastrointestinal endoscopy with the patient under deep intravenous sedation. Obesity is accepted as a patient specific risk factor for hypoxic events during procedural sedation for GI endoscopic procedures. The obese population has a higher prevalence of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), which is characterized by repeated obstruction of the upper airway, and leads to apnea and desaturation. This prospective, randomized study was designed to compare the effectiveness of the high flow nasal cannula, standard nasal cannula and standard face mask in morbidly obese patients with a high risk of sleep apnea, (BMI greater than 40, STOPBANG greater or equal to 5) receiving deep intravenous sedation during colonoscopies. This study will assess which method leads to a lower incidence of intraoperative desaturation events compared to the current standard of care.

Assessment of the Accuracy of the Non-invasive Wireless Armband Gabi Baby Band for Continuous Vital Parameters Monitoring in Infants and Young Children

During a polysomnography test (PSG) previously prescribed by a physician, the patient also wears the Gaby Baby Band (GBB) during an entire night of sleep. After the test, data from the device and from the PSG (HR, SpO2, BR) will be saved and analysed in the aim to assess the actual accuracy of the GBB with golden standard values (ECG, Oximeter, belly belt). In a second analysis, the aim is to improve the accuracy of the GBB algorithm.

THRIVE Use in Pediatric Populations- Multi Site

THRIVE (Transnasal Humidified Rapid-Insufflation Ventilatory Exchange) refers to the use of high-flow nasal cannula to augment the ability to oxygenate and ventilate a patient under general anesthesia. The use of high-flow nasal cannula oxygen supplementation during anesthesia for surgical procedures has been a recent development in the adult population, with limited data analyzing the pediatric population. This study will determine whether high flow nasal cannula oxygen supplementation during surgical or endoscopic procedures can prevent desaturation events in children under anesthesia and improve the outcomes of that surgery.

Arterial Oxygen Saturation on Ventilatory Stability in Extremely Premature Infants

This is a prospective crossover study to compare the within-subject effect of the two target ranges of arterial oxygen saturation (SpO2), both within the clinically recommended range of 90- 95%. The specific objective of this study to evaluate the impact of targeting SpO2 within 93-95% compared to the 90-92% range on ventilatory stability in premature infants of 23-29 weeks gestational age (GA).
