The Investigation Of Exercise Capacity And Exercise-Induced Fatigue in Young Adults Who Survived From Coronavirus

The effects of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19), a multisystem disease, on the body system and functions are being investigated all over the world. Examining the effect of exercise capacity, which is an important marker of cardiovascular risk in young individuals with COVID-19, will allow the planning of exercise and physical activity programs according to the needs of that specific population. The objectives of this project are:(1) To compare the submaximal and maximal exercise capacity of young adults aged between 18-30 who have had COVID-19 with healthy individuals in the same age group (2) To determine the roles of muscle strength, respiratory functions, fatigue, dyspnea, and physical activity level on exercise capacity evaluated by two different tests in young adults survived from COVID-19.

A Longitudinal Study of COVID-19 Sequelae and Immunity

Background: COVID-19 is a disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. It infects the respiratory tract. Some people who get COVID-19 have only mild symptoms. But for others, infection leads to pneumonia, respiratory failure, and, in some cases, death. Researchers want to learn more about any effects that may persist after people recover from COVID-19. Objective: To learn about any long-term medical problems that people who have recovered from COVID-19 might have, and whether they develop an immune response to SARS-CoV-2 that provides protection against reinfection. Eligibility: People age 18 and older who have recovered from documented COVID-19 or were in close contact with someone who had COVID-19 but did not get the infection Design: Participants will be screened over 2 visits. During visit 1, they will answer questions about any symptoms they are having and will be tested for SARS-CoV-2 infection which will involve a nasal swab sample or other FDA approved test. If the test is negative, they will proceed to the second visit, which will include: Physical examination Medical history Mental health interview (which may be recorded if the participant agrees) Chest x-ray (for recovered COVID-19 participants only) Blood and urine tests Pregnancy test (if needed) Lung function test (for recovered COVID-19 participants only) 6-minute walk test (for recovered COVID-19 participants only) Questionnaires about their general and mental health Leukapheresis to collect white blood cells (optional). Participants will be put into 1 of 2 groups: the COVID-19 group or the close contact group. Participants will have study visits every 6 months for 3 years. They will repeat some of the screening tests. Participants in the COVID-19 group may have visits more often if they develop symptoms that suggest re-infection with SARS-CoV-2....

Third Dose of Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine in Transplant Recipients

This study will be a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of a third dose of Moderna vaccine versus placebo. Participants will be those that have received two doses of mRNA-1273 COVID vaccine (Moderna) at 0 and 1 months. Participants will be randomized 1:1 to receive either a third dose of the mRNA-1273 vaccine or saline placebo at 3 months post initial vaccination.

In December 2019, the first people got infected with COVID-19 in Wuhan, China. Within weeks, this highly infectious disease spread all over the world. Nearly one year later everyone is still trying to battle this disease and facing the consequences it causes. What became clear is that the disease and its severity differs largely between infected people. However, knowledge about who will experience severe COVID-19 and who does not is still unclear. Therefore, the aim of this study is to investigate the prognostic value of certain parameters (mtDNA and CT radiomics signature) for the severity of COVID-19.

Dose-Finding, Safety, and Efficacy Study of XVR011 Added to Standard of Care in Patients Hospitalised for COVID-19

This is a 2 part study where the first part (Phase 1) evaluates the safety of XVR011 and aims to identify the recommended Phase 2 dose. The second part (Phase 2) follows after the part 1 and evaluates whether XVR011 added to standard of care in patients hospitalised for mild to moderate COVID-19 is a safe, well tolerated, and effective treatment.

Antigen Rapid Test Screening to Prevent SARS-CoV-2 Transmission (COVID-19) at Mass Gathering Events.

To investigate the impact of rapid antigen testing for Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Corona Virus-2 (SARS-CoV-2), the investigators plan to conduct a large trial to assess the impact of using rapid tests to screen people before participating at a mass gathering event, i.e. a music concert. Among participants who wish to attend and fulfill the inclusion criteria, half will be offered access to rapid testing and concert (provided the test is negative), and the other half will not. Allocation will be by randomisation. A week after the concert both groups will be tested by means of a standard PCR-test.

Evaluation of the Daily Intake of 0.5 L of Water Saturated With Molecular Hydrogen for 21 Days in COVID-19 Patients Treated in Ambulatory Care

Through its anti-inflammatory role, molecular hydrogen could have a beneficial effect in preventing the runaway inflammatory reactions that lead to complications of Covid-19. This hypothesis is supported by numerous preclinical and theoretical arguments, as well as by some Chinese clinical studies (the Chinese guidelines for the management of Covid-19 recommend the inhalation of hydrogen), a recommendation whose interest has just been confirmed by a publication describing the very positive results of a clinical study in China. Through its anti-inflammatory role, molecular hydrogen could have a beneficial effect in preventing the runaway inflammatory reactions that lead to complications of Covid-19. The ingestion of water saturated with molecular hydrogen has been the subject of several clinical studies in other indications than Covid-19, and no side effects of this ingestion have been reported. A recent publication recommends initiating clinical trials using a hydrogen fortified beverage.

Transmission of COVID-19 Virus Among Patients and Staff in Dialysis Centers

Patients on dialysis are at risk for several infectious diseases, since they have reduced immunological and have to regularly attend dialysis centres even if a pandemic is going on. Dialysis patients and healthcare professionals of dialysis centres can become infected one with the other. The incident risk of COVID-19 in dialysis centres is still unknown. Given the challenges of an early diagnosis of COVID-19, the likely transmission with outbreaks, the possibility of reciprocal transmission of the infection among patients and healthcare professionals, the frequent clinical severity of COVID-19 in dialysis patients because of the coexistence of several comorbidities, CONTACT TRACING could be an effective and efficient tool to contrast COVID-19 spreading in dialysis centres.

COVID-19 Surveillance and Exposure Testing in School Communities

This is a prospective, observational study of COVID-19 surveillance and exposure testing in school communities. Participating school communities are providing severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) tests to students and staff at their schools per school, local, and national guidelines. This study will combine data received from the schools with data collected directly from participants to guide analysis of the co-primary objectives. Participants will be grouped into two different cohorts, depending on each school's SARS-CoV-2 test administration practices. Surveillance Cohort: Schools participating in this cohort will be performing surveillance testing weekly on approximately 10-20% of students and 100% of staff. Exposure Cohort: Schools participating in this cohort will be performing exposure testing on students and staff who have been identified as having close contact with school members diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection.

We aim to conduct research in children under 18 admitted to intensive care unit. Using a systems approach towards mapping the body's immune and metabolic responses to COVID-19 or related illnesses and compare with other sepsis like illnesses.

Immune Response to Anti COVID-19 Vaccine in Immunocompromised Patients: a Cohort Study

Despite COVID-19 pandemic having started more than one year ago, there are still limited treatment options for these patients, and over 145 million cases and 3 millions deaths have ensued worldwide. Fortunately, SARSCoV2 vaccines have been developed at an unprecedented pace. While the vaccination programs are still ongoing, early reports on efficacy are mainly centered on healthy population. In Chile most people have received the inactivated Coronavac vaccine. Data on the immune response after vaccination in immunocompromised patients is lacking. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the immune response after Coronavac vaccine in 5 cohorts of immunocompromised patients and healthy controls. We will include patients with cancer, HIV, solid organ transplant and patients receiving immunomodulatory agents for rheumatic diseases.

Researchers are creating real-time epidemiology registry to evaluate the efficacy of COVID-19 subject risk assessment scores based on recording of symptoms, biomarkers, chronic illness and mental health assessments with digital technology using wearables and mobile app tools. Researchers aim to study in Phase 1, epidemiological variations in COVID-19 presentation in both PCR positive and negative subjects in the registry. In Phase 2, 2700 subjects with COVID-19 positive test will be studied in the intervention group comparing ECL-19 vs placebo with primary end point of hospital admission assessment.
