This phase I trial studies the side effects and best dose of neratinib in combination with everolimus, palbociclib, or trametinib in participants with solid tumors with EGFR mutation/amplification, HER2 mutation/amplification, HER3/4 mutation, or KRAS mutation that do not respond to treatment (refractory) and have spread to other parts of the body (advanced or metastatic). Neratinib, palbociclib, and trametinib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as everolimus, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Giving neratinib with everolimus, palbociclib, or trametinib may work better than neratinib alone in treating participants with solid tumors.

This phase I/II trial studies the side effects and the best dose of methoxyamine when given together with cisplatin and pemetrexed disodium and to see how well it works in treating patients with solid tumors or mesothelioma that have spread to other places in the body and usually cannot be cured or controlled with standard treatment (advanced), or mesothelioma that does not respond to pemetrexed disodium and cisplatin or carboplatin (refractory). Methoxyamine may shrink the tumor and may also help cisplatin and pemetrexed disodium work better by making tumor cells more sensitive to the drugs. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as cisplatin and pemetrexed disodium, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Giving methoxyamine together with cisplatin and pemetrexed disodium may be a better treatment for solid tumors or mesothelioma than methoxyamine and pemetrexed disodium.

BMS-986156, Ipilimumab, and Nivolumab With or Without Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy in Treating Patients With Advanced or Metastatic Lung/Chest or Liver Cancers

This phase I/II trial studies the side effects and best dose of anti-glucocorticoid-induced tumor necrosis factor receptor (GITR) agonistic monoclonal antibody BMS-986156 (BMS-986156) when given together with ipilimumab and nivolumab with or without stereotactic body radiation therapy and to see how well they work in treating patients with lung/chest or liver cancer that has spread to other places in the body. Immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies, such as BMS-986156, ipilimumab, and nivolumab, may help the body's immune system attack the cancer, and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Stereotactic body radiation therapy uses special equipment to position a patient and deliver radiation to tumors with high precision. This method can kill tumor cells with fewer doses over a shorter period and cause less damage to normal tissue. It is not yet known whether giving BMS-986156, ipilimumab, and nivolumab with or without stereotactic body radiation therapy will work better in treating patients with lung/chest or liver cancers.

Learning Collaborative Vs Technical Assistance in Delivering a Palliative Care Program to Patients With Advanced Cancer and Their Caregivers

This trial studies the delivery of the ENABLE palliative care program by two different methods called a Virtual Learning Collaborative or Technical Assistance for patients with advanced cancer and their caregivers. Palliative care is specialized medical care for people with a serious illness that occurs at the same time as other medical treatment. The purpose of palliative care is to provide relief from symptoms and stress of serious illness, to help patients and their families clarify goals of care, and to focus on social support and spiritual well-being. The focus of the ENABLE palliative care program is on living well, managing stress, patient communication of their personal values and hopes for care, social support, and symptom management. This study may help doctors find the best ways to include palliative care services into their practices and the impact of palliative care on cancer patients and their caregivers' quality of life.

CD24Fc for the Treatment of Immune Related Adverse Events in Patients With Advanced Solid Tumors, TIRAEC Study

This phase I/II trial investigates the side effects and how well CD24Fc works in treating immune related adverse events in patients with solid tumors that have spread to other places in the body (advanced). CD24Fc may prevent autoimmune reactions due to the tissue damage induced by cancer treatment. CD24Fc binds to injured cell components and prevents inflammatory responses. CD24Fc also acts to turn off the immune system after it has been activated ("immune checkpoint"). Adding CD24Fc to standard treatment may shorten the recovery time and reduce the severity of side effects from immunotherapy.

This phase I/II trial studies the side effects of avelumab when given in different combinations with utomilumab, anti-OX40 antibody PF-04518600, and radiation therapy in treating patients with malignancies that have spread to other places in the body. Immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies, such as avelumab, utomilumab, and anti-OX40 antibody PF-04518600, may help the body's immune system attack the cancer, and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Radiation therapy uses high-energy rays to kill tumor cells and shrink tumors. It is not yet known how well avelumab works in combination with these other anti-cancer therapies in patients with advanced malignancies.

Viral Therapy in Treating Patient With Refractory Liver Cancer or Advanced Solid Tumors

This phase I trial studies the best dose and side effects of recombinant vesicular stomatitis virus expressing interferon beta in treating patients with liver cancer or solid tumors with lesions that have spread to other parts of the body and do not respond to treatment. The study virus has a gene inserted into it which will allow production of interferon beta, which is a substance that will restrict the spread of the virus to tumor cells and not healthy cells. It will also have some independent anti-cancer activity. Although the primary goal of this study is to evaluate the safety of delivery of this viral agent to people, patients may benefit clinically by having shrinkage or stabilization of their tumor or reduction in their cancer related symptoms (e.g., pain). Infigratinib for the Treatment of Advanced or Metastatic Solid Tumors in Patients With FGFR Gene Mutations

This phase II trial studies how well infigratinib works in treating solid tumors that have spread to other places in the body (advanced or metastatic) in patients with FGFR gene mutations such as FGFR1-3 gene fusions or other FGFR genetic alterations. Mutations are any changes in the genetic material (DNA) of a cell. FGFR proteins are involved in cell division, cell maturation, formation of new blood vessels, wound healing, and bone growth, development, and maintenance. FGFR mutations can cause the FGFR protein to become over-active in diseases such as cancer. Infigratinib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking FGFR proteins in these tumors.

Open Labeled Placebo in Reducing Cancer Related Fatigue in Patients With Advanced Cancer

This phase II/III trial studies an open labeled placebo to see how well it works compared with waitlist control in reducing cancer related fatigue in patients with cancer that has spread to other places in the body. A placebo is not a drug and is not designed to treat any disease or illness. Recent studies have found that cancer related fatigue symptoms in cancer survivors are improved with open labeled placebo (that is, patients know they are taking a placebo). It is not yet known how well an open labeled placebo works when compared with waitlist control in reducing cancer related fatigue.

Frequency of Cachexia in Ambulatory Cancer Patients and Psychological Burden in Patients and Their Primary Caregivers

This trial studies the frequency of cachexia in ambulatory cancer patients and the psychological burden in patients and their primary caregivers who are referred to an outpatient supportive care clinic. Studying how often loss of appetite and/or unintentional weight loss (cachexia) occurs in patients seen in the supportive care clinic may help researchers develop new ways to lower stress in patients who suffer from loss of appetite and weight loss as well as their family caregivers.
